Please introduce yourself
Eddie Law, 34, born in Hong Kong and came to Sydney, Australia at the age of 7. I own a footwear wholesale business. Happily married and have a beautiful daughter, who I hope one day will be into watches. Friends introduced me into instagram a few years ago, and it’s been great for me as I use it for researching things I collect. Like watches, lego, whisky, cigars…. But my passion is watches.
Is there a story behind your Instagram name laweddie?
I was gifted this name by my late parents, turns out Eddie Law was already taken on Instagram by someone in Hong Kong. Who I think are also into watches as he’s posted pictures of his PAM005 before. So I got really creative and flipped it back to front (Law Eddie).
When and how did your passion for watches start?
2010 (6 years ago) I was travelling with my wife to Hong Kong to spend Christmas with my brother and sister. I decided to get myself a luxury watch as a xmas present to myself. My brother @princeoftennis was into watches then and pointed me towards a rolex Daytona. Back in 2010 I had zero knowledge with watches, I only knew everyone wants a Rolex. I like to be a little different as you can see from my collection, so I knew I didn’t want a Rolex and settled with a Panerai PAM329.
Which watches are in your current collection?
- IWC bigpilot top gun perpetual calendar ( this one is my current favorite)
- Jaeger lecoultre navyseal diving alarm (stumbled across this by luck in Sienna Italy, possibly the smallest authorized dealer in the world who only carried 5 JLC watches and nothing else)
- Tudor pelagos blue
- Panerai PAM233
- Oris Carl Brashear bronze
- Sinn U1 camouflage
- Seiko Marinemaster SBDX016
- Omega seamaster 300
- Bell Ross desert type BR03-92
- Zenith extra special Bronze pilot
- Mistersinger jumping hour transparent
- Wilkwatch Lydian tourbillion
And a whole heap of other stuff probably not worth mentioning about.
What are the most important factors when you buy a watch?
I have to like the look or the special functions. It doesn’t have to be Automatic, it can be quartz as long as I like the look of it.
What are your grail watches and what’s so desirable about them?
My dream watch was the IWC perpetual calendar, now that I’ve got it, I don’t know what my next dream pieces is….
In your eyes, what makes the perfect watch picture and do you have some tricks?
I only have one requirement, the watch must be in focus….if its blurry….please don’t post them LOL.
